I was born and raised in Liverpool, UK.

Following a year-long backpacking trip around the world in 1972:

  • 6 years in London as a session musician (for Steve Levine and many others).
  • Musical Director for Patti Boulaye and others.
  • Talent Scout for Malcolm McLaren. I worked on the Bow Wow Wow project and discovered Annabella.
  • Broadcaster/producer for NRK (Norwegian national radio, the Radio 1 chain and over 60 independent stations).
  • National daily newspaper columnist for Klassekampen (3 years).
  • Producer of radio commercials and jingles (Coca Cola and hundreds of other satisfied clients).
  • Promotion Manger for PolyGram Records in Norway (2 years).
  • Producer and host of the Jazz Scene radio shows on both national independent and public broadcasters.
  • Producer and copywriter for the international advertising agency Young & Rubicam.
  • Freelance copywriter for other agencies. I wrote the payoff line for a television/cinema advert which won a gold Clio in New York, 1993.
  • Voice-over artist for countless e-learning projects.
  • Musician (tours, concerts, gigs, studio sessions).
  • CD Liner notes (have written 32 to date).
  • Founder/host pianist of Liverpool Jazz Club (2003 – 2024).

During my time in Norway: I interviewed the then Secretary General of the United Nations (
Boutros Boutros-Ghali), at the United Nations building in New York, 1995) and several Norwegian Prime Ministers. Kjell Magne Bondevik came to my studio to record his party political campaign.

On my return to Liverpool in 2003 I founded
Liverpool Jazz Club. I also took a business management diploma (NVQ level 4), a teaching certificate (TEFL) and in 2015 I achieved a BA (Hons.) degree with the Open University.
